Expectations

First Quarter Workplace Expectations:
Our classroom is our workplace.
  • We teach for Mastery,  Mastery means I prove I can do something accurately. Generally, 90% is considered "mastery level" for a skill. [See this for more on grades/grading.]
  • Weekly Self-Evaluation is required of all participants. I will evaluate my growth each week as part of "learning how to learn."
  • Tenth Hour Tutorial is required for all "make up" work. When I am absent, I will have work to make up. When I have homework, if I do not do it, I will have work to make up. I will have one (1) chance per quarter to take care of making it up independently (at home, for homework). If I do not make it up independently, I will be required to come to Tutorial until I am caught up. It's not a punishment- it is so I can work toward mastery.
  • Personal Electronics must be stowed unless they are needed for a task.  I can use the free recharging powerstrip. Calculators are available whenever needed.
  • I may earn my 10 minute break by following our Workplace Expectations. Breaks may be shorter if I'm not following expectations. During breaks, I may not go to the Gym, Shop, or the Weight Room. I may go to the High School wing with a pass.
  • We will focus on three life skills for First Quarter. These will form the foundation for building skills for our adult life. The three skills are:
Second Quarter: We will add the seven Dakotah values.
Third Quarter: We will also begin working directly with the PBLOs.
